I love books.
I've loved them since I first could hold them open and read.

What wonders they hold.

I love words and images and the depths of the
heart, mind, and soul from whence they come.

The Heart of Camelann, my debut historical novel, comes from deep within my own heart.  I loved writing it.

During America's Civil War, my great grandfather fought with the Army of the Potomac from June 1861 to June 1864. He left behind an honorable account in his detailed diary of the years spent with the Army of the Potomac.

I first read the diary—in his own handwriting—while taking an American History course at Penn State. After I graduated from Penn State, I taught elementary school, raised a family, and have been a constant student of the American Civil War. I’ve read hundreds of history books, dragged my children through battlefields, cemeteries, and museums. I've walked the fields of Bull Run, Antietam, Fredricksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettyburg. I listened for the drums, felt the pride, and the heartache.

I've put all that passion into The Heart of Camelann. You can read the first few chapters at www.authonomy.com/books/14502/the-heart-of-camelann/. I hope you enjoy reading
The Heart of Camelann as much as I enjoyed writing it.  If you read all that is posted on Authonomy and want
more, email me at carolinehartman5@gmail.com and give me your contact information.  The book has been professionally edited by Writing Wildly Editing Services.
